Summary
When brought aboard the Amazo, Oliver discovers that Ivo is experimenting on people, using one of his failed serums. The failed version of the Mirakuru instead awakens his metahuman gene, which gives him an uncanny knack for survival.
Five years later, he makes his way home, with an alien and three other experiments, with a mission to rescue his city, and find a way to keep his people safe, especially the most fragile of the experiments, the one codenamed Victory. All this, while trying to reclaim some semblance of a normal life.

When Moira Queen goes to drop off some documents in Oliver’s office, she happens upon a certain blonde unknowingly chattering away to a sleeping Oliver and watches in fascination at the almost domestic way Felicity pries off his shoes and gently pulls off the tie from around his neck.
(Or, a very tired Oliver falls asleep in his office, Felicity makes him comfortable when he refuses to wake up, and Moira watches in awe as the computer genius dances around the office, closing the blinds and shutting down his computer, without so much as a grunt from the man that can never seem to sleep in the presence of anyone else.)

Summary
Oliver’s wrapped himself entirely around Felicity, almost as if he’s using his body as a shield.
Lance pauses at the thought, his gaze scanning over the hospital bed and their tangled limbs. He takes in the way Oliver’s hand is pressed directly over her heart and the way he has the back of her head cradled almost reverently in his other arm as he keeps it tucked securely beneath his chin.
There's not one inch of Felicity Smoak that is vulnerable, and Lance knows down to his very core that that’s exactly what Oliver Queen had intended to accomplish.
(Or, pt 2 of Let it Be Me in which Detective Lance stumbles into the hospital under the impression that he’s taking the statement of a gunshot wound victim only to find out that it’s his friend - his sweet and bubbly Felicity - that’s hooked up to the many beeping machines. Lance is pissed - at the SCPD for not telling him, at the Hood for not answering his calls, at Oliver Queen for everything - but then he’s standing in the hospital room and figuring out that the Ollie that boarded the Gambit is a far cry from the Oliver wrapped protectively around one Miss Smoak).
