Doctor McCoy sure as hell doesn’t compromise care, confidentiality, or his goddamn conscience for anyone. He has no problem with extracting a mind-controlling slug from Uhura's sinuses, performing a blood transfusion between a human and a sentient puddle, or administering therapy to a crew-wide hallucination of a god.
But catching feelings for Spock?
Now that’s just irresponsible.
And ultimately, it's all Jim’s fault.

Summary
After the Narada Incident, things in the galaxy have been unsettled. To say the least. The Romulan Star Empire isn't quite sure of its footing in the political system. Vulcans are an endangered species. The Federation's new severe lack of telepathic citizens has opened up a psionic power vacuum that they're quick to want filled. Things are shaky in the Alpha Quadrant.
Muscaria is a giant swamp of a planet with not much to offer the Federation beyond fertile mud. The people of Muscaria, fungal-based beings who reproduce by eating each other's sporesacks, however, are talented and powerful telepaths. Their joining the Federation will help tip the psionic scales once more. But, things are weird on Muscaria.
Caught in the middle between Muscaria, the Romulan Star Empire, and Starfleet, the Enterprise is thrust into more political nonsense than Captain James T. Kirk ever wanted to deal with. He is a guy that's not made for settling down and is itching to get out into the unknown rather than tut about in the home space of the UFP. Settling-down type or not, though, Kirk is forced to cool his heels. Things are boring on the Enterprise.
Things are not so boring with Spock.

A 4-chapter fic where each of the Mcspirk guys pine after each other, and the chapter where it all comes out.
----The bar’s lights are dim, with an orange hue to him. Not Jim’s most unflattering color, but they make Bones look like he’s glowing beneath them. That easy smile he wears calms Jim down, even from halfway across the bar. The way McCoy moves to the slow beat of the music, makes Jim’s body want to sway in step. It’s enough to make the captain forget about the uncomfortable way the cold, slick bar is digging into his left arm.
They came out to have fun. Doctor’s orders. Bones tried to loop Spock in to, but the vulcan had insisted he would be able to relax more at home than in the company of strangers.
