"Sure sounded like one to me, Gem!" Pearl's laughing, and Gem can't even be annoyed, because it's something so wonderful to hear. It makes her heart flutter, and she loves it. Pearl's laugh. Her accent. She loves all of her, so so much. She loves her. "Besides, you didn't have to pick up."
Pearl's right. She knows Pearl is right. But it's also Pearl, and god, she loves her voice. She loves hearing every sound she made, every laugh, every little stumble over her words.
It was Pearl. Of course she was going to pick up.
