Summary
“You reek’a fresh blood and livin’ meat,” He rumbles lowly, “Now, just what’d’ya think woke those boys out there, hm? Think, sweetheart- we was bein’ quiet, we kept down t’ the shadows, didn’t trigger no alarms. Now, we ghouls may be missin’ a few pieces o’ typical facial appendages, as it were, but our sense o’ smell is better than you would ever believe. How d’you think I found you by that little pond, hm? All covered in blood like you was, I could’a hunted you across the Mojave just by scent alone, an’ I weren’t even hungry. Gets stronger when we start gettin’ hungry, and those boys out there? They’re starvin’.”
Or
Lucy and the Ghoul wake a nest of ferals while on the hunt for some ammo and end up hiding out in an elevator to keep from becoming their next meal. Lucky for Lucy, the Ghoul knows exactly how to get them both out of there alive.

Summary
He compares her to a piece of gristle once; tells her she’s gone and lodged herself between his teeth and nothing he does is enough to pick her out. The way he says it leaves Lucy unsure if he means it as a compliment or an insult, but the words stick with her all the same.
Because she can’t seem to get rid of him, either.

Summary
“Hello, Karen.”
Her blood runs cold. It’s a male voice, one she doesn’t recognize.
“Who is this?” She demands. “How did you get this number?”
“Oh I know a lot about you, Karen. And I want to know more…I think you might be my new star.”
“Your star, huh? What does that mean?”
“Ah, so you haven’t figured it out yet. I’m disappointed in you, Karen. I thought you were better than this.”
“Tell me, then,” she pleads with him. “Help me understand.”
It’s quiet again. The only sound over the phone is his breathing.
“Even stars burn out, Karen.”
There’s a metallic click as he ends the call.
