Lately, playing hockey wasn't even as much fun as it used to be. Games were always the highlight, but even that, it didn’t feel as good since his team had been falling apart.
And all that because he came out as gay.
He didn’t really fault them for taking some time to accept it, so Shane let them talk. If that helped them digest the news, so be it.
He let them distance themselves from him, let them gossip around to other teams, let them make him the butt of jokes he didn’t understand.Shane didn’t mind, all things considered.
Everything was fine.

Summary
"This is ugly," Ilya mumbles, pouting like a child as he takes a hand and pulls the zipper of Shane's sweater down. "Why you cover up like this?"
And before Shane's head could catch up, Ilyas stopped in his movement. Unwillingly, his hand gripped Shane's hips harder, jolting him forward and against the other's chest. A low growl from his throat made Shane's knees weak. Like nothing else, it scratched an itch deep inside him.
"I-I need to tell you something before--", but he was interrupted by another growl.
"What is this?" Ilya asks. Shane's head lulled back a bit as he bared his neck like an answer to Ilya's question. "Why do you smell?"
"Bad?" Shane smiles to himself, fully aware that this probably wasn't the best time to joke. Ilya pulled back. Their eyes met, and Shane's inside sat on fire. The other's pupils were blown wide, and oh, now he could smell it too. Ilya's scent filled the air, thick and arousing as a response to Shane's own.

Shane has to go of his suppressants for the first time and Ilya thinks he has entered heaven

Summary
The second Shane hit the ice, Ilya knew something was wrong. Bood didn’t mean to hit him, it was a clean play and an even cleaner hit. A regular hockey hit. But the way Shane landed and slid into the boards, seeing the blood but not knowing where it was coming from, had Ilya’s heart stopping. Even now, almost three hours later, it didn’t feel like his heart had started again. He could hear Bood in the bed next to him asking him something, but all he could do was refresh the tab ‘shane hollander injury update’ and hope some news article somehow leaked information. He knew he didn’t actually want that to happen because Shane deserved privacy, but he was dying inside not knowing if his boyfriend was okay.

All Shane knew was he was in pain, the medication wasn’t masking it, and he needed Ilya. His parents were both in the room, as was Hayden, doing their best to figure out how to get ‘ily to the hospital.

Shane woke up alone, in pain and confused. He remembered the hit, Marlow had sent him down to the ice. He remembered Ilya visting before anyone else. He doesn't undertand what is wrong, why are more tests being ordered. The C test. The test for being a rare Male Carrier.
He hadnt thought about Carriers since he was in school. Why would he. His mother had done the test when he was a child. It had been negative. So why was he hurting in places he shouldn't. Why was a nice nurse telling him they needed to take him somwhere else for some specialised testing.
When Shane Hollander took a nasty hit on the ice against Boston, he is woken up to a very serious, very shocking discovery. To something he hadn't believed was possible. He now has to deal with the fallout, decisions have to be made as well as life altering choices. But first he has to work out how to tell his years long situationship - who he is completely and totally in love with - that he managed to get him pregnant, when neither of them was aware it was possible. Shane is terrified, confused and furious all at the same time. All he wants is Ilya, but is Ilya going to still want him now.
