Summary

Summary
Mere weeks after graduating from UC Berkeley at the top of her Class of 1951, Charlotte "Charlie" Magne is recruited for a job she didn't even know existed: Head of Radiochemistry and Physics with the Y-7 test reactor at the Lazarus Bluffs National Laboratory. Y-7, not-so-affectionately known as "Lucifer" for its troublesome habits, has been running for almost ten years, and the government has tasked Charlie — along with the rest of the team stationed there — with finding out how a nuclear reactor breaks down.
But the desolate New Mexico facility hides a much darker secret than decaying nuclear tech and an unspoken agreement that it's Lazarus Bluffs or a coffin six feet down. It turns out that the reactor isn't what's really being studied.
It's the people.

Summary
After realising she isn’t cut out for a career as an auror, Hermione Granger works as a research analyst in the Archive of the Ministry of Magic and supports the DMLE in investigations. While looking for a file, she stumbles across an unsolved case from the 70s: a student was found dead at Hogwarts. The information in the file is sparse, and Hermione's curiosity is piqued. But getting answers to her questions turns out to be more difficult than expected. When she connects a convicted Death Eater, who is about to be sentenced to the Dementor's Kiss, to the case, she suddenly has an entirely different problem, and her investigations get into the background.
