But apparently, Miles O'Brien thinks it's important to listen when your partner has told you "no". And Julian's not quite sure what to do with that.
A short conversation in which Julian tries to make sense of both his panic and Miles' reaction, while Miles tries really hard to say the right bloody thing for once.

A 3x17 Visionary remix.When a bar fight goes horribly wrong, Julian does everything he can to save Miles. It’s not enough. Miles dies, and Julian is left bereft and distraught.
But this is a time loop fic, so when he wakes up the next day, Julian finds the universe has given him another chance to save his friend… And another… And another. There are many ways for Miles to die on a space station, and however much Julian tries – furiously repressing his ever-increasing grief and dread to focus on this so-important task – he just can’t seem to stop the endless cycle.
It doesn’t help that, although his feelings are really too much to deal with, his friends keep pressing him to open up to them. He’s fine, he insists, until he really isn’t, and discovers that he does need a shoulder to cry on after all. Grief, hope, rage, hurt, comfort, despair, joy… A roller-coaster of emotions accompanies Julian through the most challenging six days of his life, and he is so, so tired.

Summary
Sloan's objective in Inquisition was not to recruit Julian for Section 31. It was to break him, and bring him back to Earth to be locked up and studied.
Canon divergent, starting from when Julian was "rescued" from "Weyoun".
This will be a series of interconnected snapshots, showing what happens in this universe. I imagine I will jump around a bit - hence this being a series, rather than a chaptered fic.

"You're a protector," Sloan said. "A guardian. Someone willing to make the hard choices that keep millions safe." His breath was warm against Julian's ear. "Someone strong enough to bear that burden."
"I did what was necessary," Julian said finally.
"Yes." Sloan's hands pressed into him, pulled Julian back against the chair, the word both absolution and damnation. "That's exactly right."
Then Sloan's lips were on his neck, thin and familiar and hungry, and Julian's breath caught in his throat like it did every time.

Summary
At the tail end of the Federation-Cardassian Wars, the Obsidian Order agent Garak is captured by Section 31 during a mission on Romulus. Their director offers Garak a chance to continue working to destabilise the Romulans – a mutually beneficial arrangement for both Cardassia and the Federation, wouldn’t you agree? And a far better option than rotting away in a cell for the rest of the war.
The recruitment spiel is interrupted by an excitable junior science lieutenant babbling about how he just needs a few more super-heating plasma coils for his project, he only blew the lab up once, and the results are really, really going to be worth it, he promises. There is definitely something off about him, and he clearly doesn’t understand that he’s interrupting a highly delicate… interview.
He is also the most beautiful human that Garak has ever seen.
