Summary
Cybertron has been under the rule of the Primes since time-immemorial. The position has always been passed from creator to creation, ensuring a continuous semi-divine lineage. Until the day that Orion Pax is chosen by the Matrix of Leadership to be its next bearer. From one cycle to the next, a new dynasty is declared to be ruling Cybertron, and Optimus Prime is hailed as their new supreme ruler.
Orion has never been blind to how their society's caste system can often cause more harm than good. He'd hoped to be able to change things with his newfound power, but quickly realizes that the Senate and the priests hold much more sway over his life than he'd expected. There's also whatever is happening with his consorts, who act like their new life is anything but wanted.

Primes traditionally have harems composed of bots from the high-castes of various city states, called their consorts. Allegedly, this is a very desirable position - a cushy life with no worries, their only duty continuing the Prime's lineage. What the people of Cybertron don't know is that the position of consort is more akin to that of a hostage than a real partner. Optimus Prime is also unaware. His consorts are not.

Summary
Starscream is the conjunx of Megatron, Lord of the Decepticons. While the rest of the faction is out fighting a war, he stays at base and focuses on his single duty - ensuring that the heir he carries within him reaches emergence in the best state possible.
Sometimes, it feels like his processor is fighting him every step of the way. He hasn't been the same since the attack that left his mind in tatters.
It doesn't matter though, how much he feels like everything is wrong sometimes, how lonely and restless he gets. It's not like he has anything else to offer the cause.
He wishes his trine could be with him more often, but he'll savour this moment he gets with them as best as he can. He doesn't know how long it is until they're sent out again, far away from him, to battlefields he can't even imagine.

Or, Megatron has shadowplay done on Starscream, and takes him as a mate. A mind as strong as Starscream's is hard to keep down, however, and fights to surface with every passing cycle. Megatron does what he can to keep Starscream well under his control.
Thundercracker and Skywarp have no way to help him. They offer what comfort they can, and hope his mind will be able to fight through.

“You’ve been planning this,” he remarked.
“Me? Plotting? I’d never.”
Megatron reached out and grabbed his face, digits squishing into Orion’s cheeks just tight enough to puff out his dermas.
“You are a menace,” he murmured.
“But you love me,” Orion’s words came out muffled from where he was still being squished.OR the one where history gets written and rewritten by the victors. This is the past that was erased when the war began, the past no one but Megatron remembers.
