Wilson snorted, a quick, breathy sound of relief. “You’re awfully confident for a man drinking alone in a ratty bar.”
“Come on. I’ll tell you all about the Yangtze. Or the Amazon, if that’s what you’re into. Or the old growth forests on the west coast and their towering red cedars — what’s left of them, anyway. I’ve seen it all.”
“Really?”
“Really. Dad was in the Expeditionary Force, Terran division. I spent my childhood on different GEF bases. I’m not jerking you around.” He accompanied this with a suggestive eyebrow waggle, which earned him another snort, this time more exasperated than relieved.
