“Your love of Humans is dangerous, son.”
Evan couldn’t contain his scoff.
“I don’t even understand it. You’re in Heaven among your siblings.”
Evan actually rolled his eyes at that. “Ah, yes, what a loving family we have here, Dad. Siblings who barely tolerate me and an absent Father. I truly wonder why I wouldn’t prefer Human’s company.”
God frowned. “If that’s how you feel, then maybe you should stay on Earth.”
Evan halted at that, not knowing what to say, but Michael stepped in quickly.
“You’re banishing him from Heaven?”
“If you insist on putting it that way.” Something in his tone suggested exasperation, but that was impossible. He was God.
Now, alone on Earth, with ties to Heaven severed and limited powers, Evan still wouldn’t have changed a thing. He saved a good man, who saved five other people, and no matter what Dad said, Evan couldn’t find a fault in his actions.

“You know,” Eddie’s eyes snapped towards Steve as he spoke. “Half of the kiddos adore you, too. You and your theatric ways and love for nerdy stuff I couldn’t wrap my head around even if I tried to.”
Eddie slapped a hand to his heart, mouth open in mock shock. “Theatric? What ever do you mean?” Steve chuckled, and Eddie let himself stare. Steve’s face was relaxed, and his smile was soft, with tiny crinkles by his closed eyes. And unfortunately, Eddie’s heart was so not getting the memo that Steve was unattainable as it felt like it would burst out of his chest when Steve directed that soft smile at him for a split second. So, Eddie looked away and stared ahead, making his voice low and teasing. “They see you as a mother hen, meaning I’m the dad.”
