‘Shh, hey…’ Beau curls her long tail around Yasha’s neck, the tip of it resting gently against the top of her broad shoulders. ‘I got you.’
Yasha exhales shakily, head inching lower to rest on Beau’s side. She hears Yasha swallow again, feels that wide nose snuffle then press against her fur. Yasha breathes, and then – oh, there it is. That’s the answering thunder she’d been waiting for all this time. Deep, slow, and jarringly familiar. It makes Beau think of nights in the dome after a long trek in a too-dark tunnel, a strong sentinel saying nothing during the day, but offering quiet rumbling comfort to a stressed little goblin curled in her brawny arms in the best way a cat knew how.
