In Baby's pack, the Daemons, alphas were on top and omegas were on the bottom.
It was a hierarchy that Baby hated. He would do anything to be treated with respect, to be treated as an equal. Not that anyone would understand such a desire besides Mystery. Not even the group of wolves they had run into when they ran away. Especially not the pink-haired alpha with enchanting looks and a mouthwatering scent.

Logically, there was a before. He understands that. There was a person he had been, before Gwi-ma. He remembers bits and pieces of him, like little wisps of smoke. Unhappy things, like frantic, screaming voices, and echoes of a nameless pain. The things Gwi-ma allowed him to remember, the shame that kept him obedient and useful in the endless agony of the Underworld.
A shell. A shadow of a boy he didn’t remember. He’d accepted that he’d never be anything else. That he’d never deserve to be anything else.
He’d never, ever, imagined there would be an after. Never let himself hold on to such a reckless, foolish hope.
But here he was, waking in the after.
