Billy’s heart tried for double time. He kept his face entirely blank at the words, regardless of the chill that raced through him. The subway doors closed again, already speeding them away.
Baseball bat had his bat sling over one shoulder, faux casual. “We just want to know where Javier is, and we’ll leave you alone.”
That finally drew Billy up short, cutting through his panic. “What?” he asked, more than a little dumbfounded. “Javier?”
