Summary

luke hopper always knew there was something not right with him. he doesn't remember the last time he was genuinely happy, as a fifteen year old boy. it most likely originated with his childhood being cramped into stuffy hospitals rooms as he listened to the droning ticks of the iv tube, laying awake in the early hours of the morning as he listened to his parents faintly argue downstairs. sitting in funeral homes for hours on end as his parents debated between which child sized casket they could afford, the long and winding road trip in his dad's cop car down the midwestern roads to middle of nowhere hawkins, indiana.
as his birthday nears, november 16th, luke can expect it to be like any old one - absolutely nothing happening, treating it as a normal day. but deep within the woods of hawkins, behind their trailer, the horrors of the town slowly awake, terrorizing the byers family just a few days before. in for probably the most horrific and hectic week of his life, luke only wonders how sadistic and sad someone's life has to be for the sunnyside turning point to be a series of disappearances, freaky monsters, and bring hunted by the government to make the outlook of life look a little better.
