Summary
it's simple, really. either the dog bites you or the barbed wire does.
so you crawl under the fence and cut yourself to shreds.
then john price saves you.
he has a bunker. it's secure. fences all around, codes to every door.
though john's not quite willing to tell you the code to leave the bunker.
not when he brought you down there for a reason.
or: a zombie au in which john price has survived alone in a government facility that he very much wants to fill with a family of his own

Summary
The first thing he says to you is:
if you were mine, you'd be tucked in bed already instead of drinking alone in a goddamn bar—
Despite it being the most ostentatious thing anyone has ever said to you, it's full of mockery, too—an infantilising barb drenched in ownership, possession. As if you're a trinket to be kept; a child in need of supervision. A firmer hand, perhaps.
(and those gruff words cause two problems for you: the first is that you're not sure if he means it in a parental way—an innocuous sentiment from an overbearing, but well-intentioned, father angry on your behalf—or a bald, albeit gruff, pickup line from a man with stress lines older than you.
the second is that you're not entirely sure which one you want it to be more.)

Summary
The heat of his gaze warmed something up inside you. Like learning a new word, letting it lick around your teeth and curl in the soft gum under your tongue. This must be how blood transfusion felt, the flood and spread of something new, the invigoration of it. Fresh blood, flushing out the old.
“I’m sure I can find some places, there’s a lovely library just down the street from here,” you murmured, turning your head away to catch your breath but he was still watching you when you turned back. You gave him your name, asked him what he was doing here.
“I’m John Price, ma’am,” he told you, kissing the back of your hand. Lips against fabric, but you could feel the bristle of his beard as it pierced through to reach your skin. “And I’m here to hunt.”
