“Bribery?” Daniel suggests, and Grace looks over his shoulder at Alex, who is silent. He looks like a chastised child, embarrassed and foolish. He won’t even speak up for her now, after everything? Fuck this fucking family.

Grace knew it wasn’t healthy. She knew that what she needed was a clean break. But somehow, despite her clear thinking, she rationalized her behaviour that was completely to the contrary.
She needed a fresh start, she needed to get away from the Le Domas legacy and process (or grieve, depending on the day) the events that had transpired on the evening of her wedding. And while she was now in therapy, she couldn’t let herself just walk away. Not when Daniel Le Domas somehow miraculously survived the bullet wound just below his neck and the explosions that had struck down the rest of his family.
No, Grace thought, she was simply a glutton for punishment.
