Geralt stands there and looks at them and wants. Wants what they have with each other, mostly, but here, seeing them so content without him, he can also admit that he wants them — both of them. He can’t have either, of course; that much is obvious even to him. But that doesn’t matter to his traitorous heart, which wants and wants and wants, which yearns for things he cannot have.
He doesn’t know how long he stands there, unable to tear himself away. He watches, and yearns, and only returns to his initial task when Yen snuffles and burrows further into Jaskier, his arms tightening around her even in sleep. It’s not his place to intrude.
Or: Jaskier and Yennefer keep joking about being married. Except from the outside, it doesn’t look like they’re joking.

His plan was to set Jaskier down on the floor so he could more easily go over and talk to the woman, who he was assuming was the mage that Chireadan had mentioned, but that plan was derailed very quickly when he looked at the bard. Jaskier no longer looked shocked, or even like he was having trouble breathing anymore. The huge lump at his throat from the djinn's attack was already gone, but what bothered Geralt the most was his eyes; Jaskier's eyes had darkened to the point where only a faint ring of blue was visible around his pupils. His face, still stained with blood, had gone slack, and he was looking at Geralt with a wondrous expression on his face.
Geralt glanced around the room, and sure enough, all of the other people had similar expressions. Jaskier had fallen under the same spell as the rest of them. Fuck.
or: what might have happened if Yennefer's orgy spell had affected Jaskier as well.

Summary
A muscle twitches in the witcher’s jaw. He clears his throat. “We recently… reunited. He and I used to travel together.”
“And the moment I can get out of this storm, we will cease ‘traveling together’ once more,” Jaskier says bitterly. Traveling together. Ha. Geralt makes it sound like they were nothing more than acquaintances on the road.
To him, Jaskier supposes it was. Unfortunately, Jaskier’s own heart and mind never received the memo.
Nivellen raises his brows, glancing between them. “Ah. I’ve… prodded something, haven’t I?”
“There is nothing between us to prod. There never was,” Jaskier insists. “Continue your game. I rather enjoy watching Geralt lose.”

Or, Geralt had never called Jaskier a friend, not once in their twenty years traveling together. Now he returns to uproot Jaskier's life, Child Surprise in tow and mentions of an 'old friend' on his lips. It makes Jaskier want to scream.
