Baelor smiled. Basically pressed against his temple, Maekar felt the smug shift of his jaw.
"Aerion needs someone his own age who won't break when hit." Baelor tilted his head. "What do you say, lad? There's a place for you at Summerhall. The master-at-arms will find a use for your arms."
The joke flew right through this lad’s head, Maekar just knew it.

He was three and ten when he ran from home and in the forest, he faced a creature with golden scales staring at him, threatening to burn him to a crisp. He prays to a god for a hero.
