Summary
Steve and Tony spend most of their time fighting. Eventually, when they are both at a low point, sparks of a different kind fly and they have sex, with serious impacts on the team, their working relationship and them as individuals. They vow "never again," and have to piece back together a working relationship. In the process, they learn new things about each other, and themselves.
Tony’s hands tighten fractionally in Steve’s shirt. He can feel the adrenalin racing in his veins, the desire to wipe that judgmental frown off Steve’s face for once. It’s a danger signal, that feeling, and he knows it. He’s supposed to do some deep breathing or adjust his chakras or walk away or something. Be mature.

A gorgeously written fic for me, that tackles two wishes I've always had. One, a redemption arc of some kind for Dan, but one that is believable and fits his character. I always felt so bad for the way his fate ended up. This writer took my crazy thought that maybe Dan was gay, and made it work astoundingly well. I love how the writer was careful not to downplay how difficult that would be, yet at the same time made an ending that gave me what I wanted (I won't give away who Dan loves, and how it works, but it works SO WELL, while still keeping a bittersweet realism that just fits) . Then, on top of that, the author creates a beautifully simple yet plausible story about Jo and Laurie. And... perhaps best of all, gives *great* Nan (one of my fave characters along with Jo).
