Summary
A figure stands on the other side of the door, or more accurately, leans on his door. The door is frosted for privacy of his students, so Master Swordsman only sees the vague silhouette of a hunched body, extending into the flushed press of a forehead against glass. The person shifts as he’s approaching to open the door, skull connecting with glass with another dull thud. It pauses for a moment, before repeating the movement sluggishly, hitting the door in syncopated rhythm.
Weird, weird, weird, he thinks, but he couldn’t just turn the person away if they actually needed help. If they didn’t, well, a martial arts school was a poor choice to rob.

Or: A zombie apocalypse hits the quaint home of the Grass Roots Guild. Two members go missing. Nothing gets resolved.

A boy descends from the heavens, skin kissed by the sun, and hair as gold as the many medals that adorn his chestplate. His purple cloak billows over his shoulders like a Roman emperor, face as stern as any somber military leader, and his eyes are an electrifying blue that makes Nico think of Thalia.
Instead of the fear and alarm shown by many campers, this boy scans the armor-cladded skeletons Nico summoned and the anxious diamond at Hazel’s feet. There’s a scar on this boy’s mouth that’s enhanced by his scowl—and suddenly, the harsh demeanor fades. The electrifying hue of his eyes disappear—matching the color of the morning sky instead. He glances at the skeletons once more, then looks at Hazel and Nico, impressed.
“Whoa,” he says.
Nico hates how his heart skips a beat.

“No—” There’s a way that Jason’s hard eyes soften that makes him look a little sadder. His eyebrows knit together delicately, and he’s got the same nostalgic look on his face that Thalia had earlier in the praetor’s office. Except it’s directed at Nico. “I knew your sister. Bianca."
Nico’s heart clenches in his chest. Percy’s usual mischievous smirk and lackadaisical eyes sober, and Thalia’s smile fades.
“We fought together in the war,” Jason says softly. “I’m so sorry, Nico—she died.”
It takes a moment for Nico to process the words. He looks at those rich, oily eyes that are suddenly sweet and tender. They stare back at him like they’ve known him for years. Thalia and Percy are both leaning in, evidently trying to gauge his reaction—but honestly, Nico’s just confused.
“Yeah,” Nico says slowly. “And?”
