Summary
There was a hand gently held around his neck, and another working at his belt and God. It felt like nothing Shane had ever experienced, desire thick and heavy, want sharp and desperate.
Then it was gone. Ice cold gone in a flash, replaced with the ambient temperature of the room he was in. A void left behind in its space and Shane couldn’t help but let out a whimper.
He’d lost something. Something had been taken from him and he couldn’t remember what.
or, A witch makes a hole in the middle of Shane's life, and he can't even remember who it is he's missing.

Summary
Space is kind of lonely.
It’s the only thing Buck really knows: being alone up here really fucking sucks.
Oh. And he knows his name. Buck. He’s going to have to have a strongly worded conversation with his parents if he ever gets out of here because who the hell names their kid Buck?
So yeah. He’s Buck and space sucks. The sum total of things he knows.
He’s figuring the rest out.
or, Buck's alone in space, and Eddie comes to find him

Summary
Do you ever think about pipe baby?”
Hen blinked into her coffee. Then up at Buck through furrowed eyebrows.
She had half expected a rambling seminar on the most recent thing he’d been reading about on Reddit or Wikipedia or Substack, or maybe a story about what he and Eddie had done during the 96 off. She had not even remotely been expecting him to say ‘pipe baby’ at 5am on a Friday morning.

Summary
Eddie leaned down, mouthed at Buck’s jaw and murmured, “How you doing, Buck?”
Buck whimpered but nodded enthusiastically, rocking his hips ever so slightly. Chasing movement. If Eddie had to guess.
“Hey,” he huffed, snapping back to standing, “Toys don’t move.”

Summary
Maddie’s processing it at least. She always does better than Buck at things like this. At least she’s feeling it. At least she feels. Chim’s massaging a hand into her shoulder while she cries and calls lawyers and funeral directors and books flights. Just for her and Buck. Chim has to stay. For Jee and Nash and work and that’s fine, it’s actually better. Chim shouldn’t have to pause his life for them.
Buck doesn't have anyone to ask.
“Buck,” he hears Eddie say next to him, quiet and gentle and low, “Breathe.”
or, the Buckley parents die in a car crash and Eddie helps Buck through it

Summary
The door creaked open. Maddie stiffened, her back pressing harder into the corner. “I’m okay,” she said.
Liar.
The door didn’t close again. Instead, soft, deliberate footsteps moved toward her, growing louder in the quiet. Her pulse quickened, her fingers gripping her arms tighter. “Seriously, Josh, I’m fine. Just—”
The words caught in her throat as she looked up. “Eddie?” she whispered.

Summary
“You were drunk. I know it didn’t mean anything. Everything’s alright.”
Buck visibly winces. “That’s not — Eddie.”
There’s a suspended moment where Buck looks torn, standing on the edge of something, eyes fixed on the horizon to avoid looking at the drop, the precipitous canyon below. But then Buck, who can’t lie, who would tear his own chest open to a complete stranger on the street because the truth of him spills so loudly out of every jagged edge, sighs out:
“It meant something.”
There’s a ringing sound somewhere in the distance, getting closer. “What are you…” Eddie trails off.
“I wasn’t — well, I was drunk. But that wasn’t what. Wasn’t why. Not entirely, or — god.” Buck shudders in a breath, steeling himself. “I have feelings for you.” He closes his eyes. “I’m so sorry.”
~
Buck confesses his feelings. Eddie’s straight. If he spends all his time thinking about Buck and looking at Buck and wanting to be around Buck, well, that’s just being a good friend, isn’t it? He’s being so normal about this, actually.

Summary
"Hello!" A voice calls up from below.
Buck looks down the glass of his window. The entire fire department appears to be looking up at him. There are, notably, so many mustaches.
“Hi!” Buck yells back, motioning at the giant ladder. “Everything okay?”
“LAFD!” A voice calls back. “Just a practice exercise! No cause for alarm!”
Or, hot firefighters keep parading past his window. What's Buck supposed to do but flirt?

Summary
He doesn't open his eyes, either. If he does, he's going to have to see Eddie in the water right next to him, shirtless, flushed pink, his hair curling against his sweaty temples from the heat and humidity, and there's only so much temptation Buck can be expected to withstand.
