Summary
For a year, Jimmy’s lab has been empty.
Well, not *empty* empty. Noise buzzes from machines where dust has piled in thick between the keys, knobs, and wires. Piles of unfinished machinery and parts lay abandoned, waiting to be finished. Stacks of letters, dated back months ago, pile on a table stay unopened. The clock ticks though there is no one to tell the time to, the calendar lays full of events and dates, all already passed, and the dog sleeping in its bed has been long deactivated since it returned battered, beaten, but most importantly without its owner.
It isn't *empty* empty, but it's empty in the same way a book is empty without words on its page, a garden full of weeds instead of flowers, a home without people living inside.
(It all comes to an end when ‘he’ arrives with the light of the moon and a shooting star.)

Summary

Miguel sits on the bathroom floor, his hulking frame somehow crammed into the small sliver of space in-between the toilet and the bathtub. It’s not a comfortable position—far from it—but there’s something grounding about being surrounded by cold, unforgiving ceramic. Because, while the lip of the tub is digging into a particularly tender spot underneath his ribcage, it’s not moving. And that likely means that the bathroom as a whole isn’t, either.
There, on floor by his left foot, is a pregnancy test.
A positive pregnancy test.
He’s pregnant with Peter’s baby. And Peter wants nothing to do with him.
