“No, no.” Cipher is saying as she follows his gaze, dread in her tone. “Please don’t tell me that guy’s your type.”
He dyed his hair back to white. Mydei finds himself thinking, as Phainon throws his head back, laughing, and his bangs fall into his eyes.
“Worse.” He says glumly. “That’s my ex boyfriend.”
Cipher’s reaction is just a tad over the top. She chokes on her drink, spluttering unflatteringly as she stares at Mydei like he’s grown a second head. “And when were you going to tell me, your dearest friend Cifera…” She starts slowly.
“...that your ex is Phainon fucking Khaslana?”
Mydei is supposed to be here to celebrate. After so much hard work he and his band—Titans of Calamity, had finally signed a recording contract.
The last person he wanted to run into was him. Popular, handsome, up-and-coming model Phainon, who had become unrecognizable from the boy he loved in high school.
Mydei never got over their disastrous breakup, and right now, he just wants to forget.

“I’m sure they were charmed by you,” Mydeimos grumbles. He reaches up to tug at Phainon’s sleeve, drawing the knight’s attention to him. “Were you not going to greet me?”
“Sorry, Your Highness,” Phainon says easily. He walks to the other side of Mydeimos and pulls a chair close to him, sitting down. “What are you eating tonight? It looks good. Did you make it?”
Krateros desperately looks towards Gorgo, trying to discern if she sees what the hell he is. She doesn’t meet his gaze. Distraught, Krateros returns his sight to the two, only to be met with Mydeimos feeding Phainon a piece of his meal.
What the hell. What the hell what the hell.
Krateros learns his precious godson is in a relationship with Phainon, his least favorite person in the world. He doesn't take it well.

Summary
Mydei sets the basket down by the bed, noticing his mother jolt at the sound.
“Mother, why is your hair white all of a sudden?”
The figure in bed gasps, eyes peeking from under the blanket. The voice that answers is low, rough, so unmistakably deeper than Gorgo’s. And he knows exactly who this voice belongs to.
“Worry not, my child. It seems like an effect of the illness.”
“Hm. Okay. So why is your voice deeper than usual?”
“I’m just hoarse, darling.” Gorgo never calls him darling. “Since I’ve been coughing all night.”
The blanket shifts again, and Mydei’s gaze drops lower, to the weird lump tenting the blanket right in the middle.
“I see. But there is one thing I cannot understand, Mother.” He emphasizes the word, eyes locked at the obvious excitement of the wolf currently impersonating his mother.
“Why is the blanket tenting like that?”
Wait, this is not how the fairy tale goes...

“Mydei, could you, um, please, just stay where you are and not come inside?” Phainon asks nervously from behind the closed door.
“Why?” Mydei responds, already stepping in front of it. Caelus told him earlier that Phainon was in trouble. He couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.
The door, sensing his presence, unlocks itself. Mydei stares at the view of Phainon in front of him.
A tight, glossy black satin. Strapless, hugging his broad chest, cinching tightly at the waist. His strong legs are sheathed in sheer tights clearly not meant for someone of his build – they ripped in a few places, small tears blooming at the seams where his thighs strain against the delicate fabric. Down below, he wears sleek, black heels that match the suit all too well. Perched atop his head, two snow-white ears stand at attention. And around his neck, still, is the black choker. A simple band, snug against the sun tattoo on his neck. While it had been part of his usual attire, it looks oddly at home, like it was meant for this.
…
A bunny suit.
Phainon’s wearing a bunny suit.
Mydei’s throat runs dry.

“But,” Phainon said, voice lower now, more certain despite the way his pulse was still racing, “there is one thing though.”
Mydei didn’t pull away. “Mm, go on.”
“I…” he started, voice catching slightly as Mydei’s grip tightened just enough to make his brain briefly stop working. He forced himself to keep going anyway. “I could do so much better than this… version of me you’ve made up in your head.”
Mydei’s hands paused, though they didn’t move away.
“In your fantasies,” Phainon added, his voice dropping a little as he leaned closer without fully realizing he was doing it. “I could be so, so much better, Mydei.”
In which Phainon wakes up one day suddenly able to see everyone’s thoughts, including Mydei’s.
