Nothing says friendship like insisting everyone leave you alone so you can focus on your alchemy project and fix the second-floor lavatory.
(Or: How one Slytherin stumbled into saving the wizarding world and somehow got the Black brothers to have a civil conversation.)

Summary
When four mysterious lads move in next door, Marlowe Wright's completely normal (and maybe even a little boring) life is turned upside down. Armed with nothing but a nutty housemate and a can-do attitude, Marlowe must suddenly navigate a brave new world. And maybe even help save it.

Summary
When Merlin wakes in Arthur's bed, Arthur acts as if nothing has changed.
Merlin understands. It was a mistake, grief over Arthur's broken relationship with Gwen, and when it happens again (and again), Arthur keeps ignoring, and Merlin always understands.
Then Princess Mithian comes. A marriage is planned, and among Agravaine's betrayal, new duties above his station, and Arthur's continued advances, Merlin isn't sure how long he can hold himself together.

Summary
“You can talk to me, you know. About whatever it is that’s on your mind.”
No, no he very well couldn’t. And that was the whole problem, wasn’t it? Though it took them a long while to get there, Arthur was Merlin’s best friend. Of course, he wanted nothing more than to confide in him! He wanted to trust Arthur, he really did. But how could he do that, knowing what was on the line? Worst-case scenario would earn Merlin a place on the pyre, and best-case scenario would have Arthur subjected to a messy storm of hurt and betrayal. Merlin couldn’t do that to him, especially when he was already grappling with a growing mountain of responsibilities as a young prince. It was a no-brainer really. Merlin needed to keep his magic a secret. If not for his sake, for Arthur’s.
A rewrite of my favorite Merlin episode, because it would have been so perfect if this was when Arthur learned about Merlin's magic.

Summary
"Well, how did you know I would..." Arthur seemed to search for the words. "React positively?"
It was now Merlin’s turn to scoff. “Oh please, Arthur, you’re not as sly as you think. When I took off my neckerchief, you turned puce.”
“That should be illegal." Arthur flushed red. "I shouldn’t have to see your neck.”
Or, Merlin and Arthur start hooking up around the end of s1, after they’ve both, in a completely platonic way, decided the other is worth dying for. This situation is just a FWB one, not at all romantic, right? Right?
(OR or; author explores Merlin's crazy fucking devotion to Arthur, and Arthur's crazy devotion to Merlin. They're so codependent.)
