“Mondstadt wouldn’t be the same without you, you know,” Venti said. “The nation of freedom does not discriminate between its inhabitants, no matter where they were born or what lies in their past. The winds welcome all who wish to make a home within their domain.”
Despite the reassuring words and accompanying breeze, Kaeya felt a cold pang in his chest. He pulled his hands away a bit too harshly to appear casual and avoided Venti’s eyes.
“You say that now, but know nothing of my past,” Kaeya laughed bitterly. The bard just watched him, in his eyes a hint of something far exceeding his youthful appearance.
Or, Kaeya has never felt like he belonged in Mondstadt, and decides the world would be better off without him. Venti interrupts his plans and assures him that his roots don’t define him
