Summary
Winter has struck Camelot hard. Entire villages are disappearing beneath the snow, and the castle is perpetually freezing. In an attempt to beat the cold, Arthur seeks out Merlin hoping for someone to share his bed at night. To his great embarrassment, he stumbles across Merlin and Gwaine already quite cozy together.
Arthur is desperate to stop feeling lonely, and makes a deal. If only he could figure out why he has this perpetual cold feeling in his chest.

Summary
Arthur has never cared about being proper around Merlin because Merlin has never been one to treat him properly. Still, it's rare for Arthur to slip and use his alpha voice, knowing that, even to the beta he believes Merlin to be, it's an overt exertion of power. The few times Arthur has commanded his servant in such a way, he usually orders Merlin to "shut up" or "go away", and Merlin can play it off like he's following Arthur's orders too literally in retaliation, until he's able to find the one alpha that knows about him (thank the Gods for Lancelot!) and convince him to override Arthur's order with his own.
This time he doesn't get the chance.
[Merlin gets stuck in Arthur's chambers without his suppressants or his scent blockers. Things turn out much better than he expects...]

His father, the king of Camelot had told him otherwise, servants had said otherwise, but Arthur knew better. If you were a prince, it meant that there was no way you could climb into trees. If you were a prince, there was no chance you could play with other kids. You have to be better than everyone, his father had warned him, you are special, not them. then why did Arthur always want to be them?
