Nancy hesitantly picked up the rotary phone from her bedside table, her hands still trembling as she resigned herself to dialing the ever-familiar number. She bit her lip, trying not to think too hard about what she was doing.
After a few rings, a groggy voice rang through the speakers. "Robin Buckley speaking, and you better have a good reason for calling at two in the morning, because I swear to God if this is a telemarketer --"
"Robin," Nancy cut her off, trying to stabilize her own voice before she continued. "Not a telemarketer. It's -- it's me."
"Nance?" Robin's voice grew soft with worry, and Nancy felt her shoulders relax. She tried to ignore the warmth that rose to her cheeks. "What's the matter? Are you okay?"
"I'm home," she replied, her voice still quiet, a whisper underneath the screams of stop inside her own head. "Can you come over?"

Summary
It should just be the urgency of their situation that makes Nancy tense. She should be worried about Hawkins, about her family, about her friends. She should be spending all of her time researching and following trails, just like she always does. Instead she's tense over a girl, and suddenly everything she has done her entire life feels wrong.

“You are a lot drunker than I thought you were,” Robin said softly, gently grabbing Nancy's wrist in hopes to stop whatever was happening or about to happen because if she was doing this, it definitely was not going to be with Nancy shit faced in some random bathroom of a random party that some random person she didn’t even know threw. And honestly, in this state Nancy probably wouldn’t even remember this in the morning.
“Your eyes are really pretty,” Nancy said, brushing her fingers down the side of Robin's face.
“Nancy…”
“Robin,” she said, leaning in.
or
Robin is trying to get a drunk Nancy to get in the car and go home and Nancy thinks Robin is pretty.
