Summary
When Qui-Gon won a slave in a bet on Tatooine, the knowledge of that fact died with him. When Obi-Wan met Anakin, no one said anything about where the child might have come from, and so he ended up making some assumptions. He assumed Anakin's family had been a happy one. He assumed Anakin was born free, and always had been free, and the boy doesn't think to correct him. When things stop adding up, little clues here and there, little inconsistencies- during a moment where he means to tell Anakin about his own past, Obi-Wan suddenly sees the ugly truth for what it is.
But is it too late?

"Master," Anakin says suddenly as they approach the large hangar bay doors. "Do you... remember your mother at all?"
Obi-Wan turns his head sharply. "What?" he replies, just as a thought comes floating to the surface of his mind, made of hot desert sands and kind smiles and goodbye hugs, years ago when he still had someone to turn to (but he never really could turn to Qui-Gon, could he, not when the man was too preoccupied with the mistakes he never had the chance to fix).
(On a relief mission to Stewjon, Obi-Wan finds his roots.)

Summary
This is a sequel to "A town called stagnation" By deniigiq, if you haven't red it please do because it is incredible! In that work, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon go to Stewjon after Melida/Daan as part of their probation. It is incredible go check it out.
In this work Obi-Wan and Anakin get a bit... stranded on Stewjon and Obi tries to avoid his family while entertaining an energetic 10 year old and keeping said 10 year old from learning about the family. Like the rest of Obi's life, none of that plan succeeds

“I’m not going.”
Obi-Wan sighs through his nose, waiting patiently outside Anakin’s locked door, “Anakin, it’s expected of you. Jabba would find it extremely disrespectful if you weren’t in attendance when he specifically requested you and Ahsoka, and the Republic needs a steady alliance with the Hutt’s trade routes. Jabba has already begun closing them off again. We need this mission to be successful if we wish to have complete access to those hyperspace routes again.”
The only reason that disgusting slug wants Anakin there is because he was involved in rescuing Jabba’s equally disgusting and sluggish son. Obi-Wan could easily go in his place, and Jabba would be none the wiser.
Anakin can feel Obi-Wan prodding through their bond and quickly slams his walls up. He can’t let Obi-Wan in. If he does, then Obi-Wan will be able to feel the way shame burns through his skin. The way anger dances along his nerves at the mere thought of seeing twin suns in the sky and sand as far as the eye can see.
His mother’s final resting place.
“I’m not going,” He repeats, raising his voice to be heard through the wall.

If Roy wanted, he’d ask. He’s good about asking. Ed wouldn’t need to bring it up, because Roy would just ask– “Do you miss it?” Shit.
Roy sends him a slightly incredulous look. “Cockblocking Fuery? I mean, I can’t say I’ve been in a position where it was necessary, but–”
“No, dumbass, drinking. Being drunk.” Ed looks back down at his phone, avoiding Roy’s dark eyes. “Apparently it’s fun, or whatever. I’ve never been drunk, so I don’t know. I’m just curious. You know there are bars specifically with volunteers for that, if you wanted to. I wouldn’t care.”
Roy glances away.
Or, the one where Edward Elric, who's made a literal career out of being straight-edge, gets it in his head to play drunk juice box for his vampire... boyfriend? Is that what they are now? Anyway, he succeeds at that, but overthinks everything else along the way. Like that whole boyfriend thing, and what that may mean for the future.
