The three rebels, as if roused from a trance, leapt back, but the spell had already touched them. He couldn’t see anything beyond the gold... that vanished just as quickly as it appeared a second later. Sickness was something he knew well from his time in the hospital. Sanitary as the place had been, it was also full of illness, each person grosser than average. Coughing kids, sniffling kids, germs everywhere. Was he coming down with a cold? Just thinking about it made his skin crawl, but perhaps that explained why he wasn’t getting anywhere with plotting his escape. Something was affecting his mental facilities.
“Shouma,” he said as his food was passed through the bars of his cage that morning, a fake smile plastered across his face, “Do we have cold medicine? I believe your disgusting germs infected me.”
