Summary
Rex thought he was alright being alone.
He thought he was alright with coworkers who're going to drive him into an early grave, a captain who's erratic at the best of times, and a cousin slash older brother who refuses to stop getting in his business. He thought he was alright with that.
But when his past comes crashing into his present in the form of a set of twins, Rex finds that he might not be as alright with being alone as he thought.

Summary
The simple solution is this: Palpatine isn't willing to entrust Skywalker's safety to anyone but the best. This results in the swapping of two battalions - one headed for Coruscant with one headed to Aranata - and in so doing, ends up with the perfect set of pawns in his hands.
Rex would very much like to keep as many of his boys alive as he can. Whether that takes the form of fudging numbers, taking their shifts and work, or keeping his missing time a secret, he's willing to do whatever it takes.
Fox, on the other hand, would very much like to know where Fives went.
