His fingernails dug into the soft leather of the chair as Eris spoke, the bastard's voice sliding out from his too smug mouth, smooth tone filling the board room.
Almost as if he sensed the slow-burning rage pooling from across the mahogany-paneled room, amber eyes flickered Az's way before Eris spoke again. "Do you disagree with my assessment?"
To the untrained ear, the question could be dismissed as curious, but Azriel knew better. Where Vanserra was concerned, probing questions always carried a hidden barb, one designed to pick a fight the auburn-haired man already knew he'd win.
All the same, he always took the bait.
