“This is your friend, Lena? Kara! This is the woman who hit me with her car!”

"Hey," Robin said conspiratorially, looking down at Nancy. Another flashback. They hadn't been this close since the Upside Down, she thought. She didn't miss that, but she kind of missed this. "You want to get out of here?"
"Um, excuse me?" Nancy laughed, blushing, and Robin immediately regretted speaking, which was not an unfamiliar feeling for her. Just clumsy, every which way.
"No! I just meant, you know, like 'Let's blow this popsicle stand,'" Robin said, gesturing in a way incomprehensible even to her.

“Here you go.” Nancy declares, holding up a yellow and black striped pen, with a little bee figurine on the top, and Robin almost smiles. It’s the pen Robin had gotten her for her birthday a couple years back, complete with a yellow and black notebook that said ‘always bee yourself’.
“I can’t believe you still have that.” Robin says, her voice a little scratchier than she intended.
“Of course.” Nancy shrugs, her nose crinkling in the way that Robin likes so much.
She hands the pen over and as Robin takes it from her, their hands touch and even though Nancy’s hands are as freezing as they’ve ever been, Robin feels warm all over, her face flushed as she pulls her hand back.
“Thanks.”
“Anytime.”
OR: Robin might have a thing for Nancy and her eternally freezing hands.

Summary
And thus begins the cycle.
At the beginning of every week, Robin and Nancy exchange papers. Robin hands in a short story, or the first few chapters of a project she’s working on. Nancy gives Robin some essays, or some articles she’s working on for the paper.
Nancy always thought that if she ever somehow got into fiction, it would, at the very least, be the published kind. But something keeps her coming back to the bleachers every Monday morning to swap projects with Robin Buckley.
