Summary
A long, long time ago, back when tigers used to smoke, it snowed for eight days and eight nights during the Great Cold...
Wooyoung steps in closer, scanning their vicinity with furtive little glances even though there’s no one else in sight. “Something’s going on,” he finally explains, voice lowered. “There are whispers in the wind. The dokkaebi say that the stars are misaligned, that the gods are re-writing fate.” He grasps for Hongjoong’s hand, pupils dilated, and Hongjoong begins to recognise his skittishness as fear. “They say that there’s a debt outstanding.”

Summary
“I’ve designed many buildings in my career,” Kaveh begins, the attention of every single person in the crowd fixed on him. “Most of which have been extravagant pieces made to stand tall in our city and glitter.”
Kaveh glances down at what must be some notes on the podium, pausing before he looks back up, shining in the bright lights of the stage.
“But in recent years, I must admit that my focus has shifted.”
Alhaitham leans forward, watching, hoping for something he can't quite admit. Not when the truth is that he’s never known how to say that he is hungry without fear that people will see the truth that he is starving.
Or, a year after the events of the Interdarshan Championship, Alhaitham finally retires

Summary
There’s a knock on the door that Alhaitham hesitates to answer. It’s the weekend, he’s not expecting anyone, and Kaveh most likely isn’t expecting anything or anyone either with how he’s been keeping his living arrangements a secret.
Another knock disturbs the peace of his Saturday morning, and with a sigh he opens the door.
“Good morning,” A small, gentle voice greets him. “My name is Nahida, and I’ve been sent by Celestia to help you find love.”

Summary
And, apparently, there’s another term hidden in the way Alhaitham leans in, lifting his eyes to Kaveh’s, lashes fluttering in a mix of intoxication and trepidation, laced over with the most ardent of wishes, akin to the yearning that Kaveh feels whenever Alhaitham is close to him.
But the liquor is too strong, and the night is peaceful with the thrum of the contented conversation of their best friends in the background, and Alhaitham tips to the side, leaning his head against Kaveh’s shoulder as his eyes flutter shut, grasping his fingers instinctively.
When Alhaitham leans his body against him, sighing as he dozes off on his shoulder, Kaveh understands that the word ‘betrothed’ is embodied in the faint outline of a ring box in Alhaitham’s pocket.

Summary
“The art of tarot can be difficult to process, I know,” Al-Haitham says, nodding. “You just have to accept it.”
“STOP SAYING THAT,” Kaveh says.
Al-Haitham picks a random card from his pile of cards and flips it over to reveal a Genius Invokation HP food card of tandoori roast chicken. “This is going to be your dinner.”
“WHY DO YOU KNOW MY DOORDASH ORDER,” Kaveh yells, typing furiously into his phone and brandishing the app in Al-Haitham’s face. “I PLACED THE ORDER RIGHT BEFORE I WALKED THROUGH YOUR DOOR.”
Al-Haitham is a tarot card reader. Kaveh is skeptical.

Bookmarker's Notes
“Realizing how well you knew me made me think about how well I know you,” Kaveh whispers. “And it made me wonder how long you’ve been observing me for. How long you’ve been watching me. How long I’ve missed the fact that all these years that I’ve been looking at you, you’ve been looking back when I couldn’t see.”

Summary
“Grand Scribe,” Kaveh greeted.
“Deputy Grand Sage of Kshahrewar,” Al-Haitham found himself replying, but it sounded more like a question than an acknowledgement of Kaveh’s new title. For a moment Al-Haitham thought he saw something flicker in Kaveh’s eyes, something he could almost call uncertainty, but not quite.
Al-Haitham finds Kaveh after three years of silence.

Bookmarker's Notes
He sounded so nonchalant that one could have mistaken him for not caring at all, but Al-Haitham knew he was just saying this the same way he’d brush his fingers over a letter from Fontaine or an old academic paper of those bygone times. It wasn’t that he didn’t care; it was just that caring would mean he’d need to shed the entirety of his own skin.
