Edward needs his mechanic in more ways than one. Might not need an M rating. But gets one just in case.
Disclaimer: Not taking credit for anything here, other than this story written with Arakawa’s toys on her playground.
Canon: Animeverse1 with CoS included as Canon, but also where the Mangaverse is also Canon in cases where the characters tell my muse "Oh, yeah, that happened, but it was like this."
A lot of Edward's dreams reference the Mangaverse especially his nightmares. I think of Animeverse1 and Mangaverse as parallel universes or something like that, so sometimes things can be different or their echoes can bleed over into each other.

Edward likes to tell me stories about kissing Winry. This little sketch here, I didn't have to turn him upside down and shake him to get it out of him. Instead he spent the evening pounding it into my head until I gave up and wrote the draft last night. Now then. Obvious disclaimers apply: I don't own Jack… Actually, I do own Jack, but I don't own Edward. Nor anyone else in Amestris for that matter.
My canon is Animeverse including CoS (though that doesn't really apply in this case) and the mangaverse applies where it is not in direct contradiction, or where Ed tells me "Yah that happened, but it was like this:"
