Summary
The first time Nico de Varona transformed into a falcon he experienced a pain previously unknown to him.
It felt as though he was placed into a mold to be reshaped and then spit back out again, experiencing something akin to birth, yet missing the fluids that go along with that specific process. His bones broke and were snapped back into place; his muscles stretched and compacted across the expanse of his new shape; his blood stopped for a few moments as his heart and his veins were rewired.
It was a horribly unpleasant experience, and yet he would do it thousands of times over again.

Summary
There were mornings, mornings when they were far, far away from home, where Keith once believed that he would never have mornings like this. Where he thought his days would remain in an endless cycle of bloodshed and death and war; where many times he and the team would wake and the blood that they had spilled would stain their clothes, if only for the day. There were mornings where Keith was more tired and exhausted than he is now, and it was those mornings that Keith saved planets and took lives. But he lays here, in the warmth of their shared bed, with the boy who has saved him again and again, and Keith can't imagine anywhere he would rather be.

Some people are lucky in life. Lucky enough to find love, to experience their lives like stereotypical teenagers.
Lance isn’t lucky, has never been lucky. This story is not an exception.

Summary
McClain stands and takes one big breath, his chest rising and causing the gold metal to glint once more. He glances back at Kinkade and adjusts his feet.
Keith’s heart only pounds harder and harder.
McClain releases the ball, and Keith recognizes this pitch as his slider a millisecond too late.
He swings.
