The door breaks open suddenly. Clorinde tenses, shutting her eyes tightly for a moment, expecting something to come at her– and when nothing ever does, she slowly opens her eyes.
She meets the eyes of a girl, blonde hair and freckles dotted over her cheeks. Her face is sunken in, her nose is straight, eyes the same color as the bay water– and Clorinde opens her mouth, wanting to say something, but nothing comes out. The girl looks to be about her age, and she– she swallows thickly, the girl averting her eyes quickly, picking a gadget from up off the ground and sprinting out towards the balcony.
She has no time to react any further, not when there is a loud boom and she’s being thrown backwards by some invisible force, eyes squeezing shut and ground rattling. Something hits her in the head hard, but the adrenaline racing in her veins, the heart beating against her chest, numbs her to the feeling. She can vaguely feel something trickle down her face, can vaguely hear yelling over the ringing in her ears–
but it sounds like she's underwater, she doesn’t– she doesn’t know where she is.

Or, Clorinde, an art student from 2024 with her future on the line and a broken heart gets sent back 200 years into the past and accidentally, despite her best efforts, falls completely, irrevocably in love with a repressed lesbian stuck in an arranged marriage.
