When Riki lifts his arm as he warms up for practice, the red string wrapped around his left wrist glints faintly under the sun.
Sunoo and Riki pretend not to notice the thread tying them together. Sunoo, still healing from a painful past, avoids the risk of being loved. Riki, quietly certain of his feelings, waits patiently in the silence between them.
