Summary
Captain James T. Kirk is not an idiot. He’s impulsive and a flirt and, sure, maybe he’s just a tad more dramatic than the average Starfleet officer, but he’s no idiot. He notices things. Details and patterns that add up to nice solvable answers. Has learned how to choreograph them into steps and dances as he calls out bluffs and saves lives. He knows when things are right and when they are wrong.
He knows, for instance, that there’s something wrong with his crew after the Halkan negotiations.
He notices that Uhura and Bones no longer like to be touched.
Or, Captain Kirk deals with the fallout of Mirror Mirror. Mostly he listens and mostly the others heal.
