Summary
The room was dim, the overhead lights off, only a small lamp glowing softly near the bed. Max stopped just inside the doorway.
The room smelt of bitter citrus peels, and the tang of salt. Max's nose crinkles at the scent of distress wafting off of the small figure on the bed.
Charles lay curled slightly on his side, knees drawn in, one arm tucked close to his chest. Too thin. Too still. There was a faint crease between his brows even in sleep, like his body didn’t know how to fully let go anymore. His hair looked limp, his eyes sunken. There were bruises visible on his skin, purple and yellow and green.
His other arm is curled protectively around his abdomen.

Charles stared at him, horrified. He looked like he was about to throttle Max on the spot.
Max only smiled.
Charles took a step forward to hiss at him to get the hell up—but Max’s gestured behind them. “Everyone’s watching, baby.”
Charles looked between their audience and Max. There they were: his immediate family. Max’s entire family. Some smiling. Some looking outright horrified.

Summary
Arber has always considered himself a decent kisser, having enough experience in this area to claim that. And with Juraj, who spent most of his life until this point focused on hockey, there was never a lot of experience to speak of. It’s only natural to expect him to improve his technique, but Juraj seems to be an exception to the rule.
