The muscles in his shoulders feel stretched out, unknotted. Languid. It’s the unfamiliar feeling of having slept for as long as your body needs to sleep. “I didn’t mean to do that.”

imagine u are surrounded by these people that you have spent all of your adult life (and some of your childhood, too) bleeding and sweating and traveling and working and living with, and you have gotten to know each of them so thoroughly that the intimacy is a burden. and then somehow, someway, there’s this kid. and you’ve watched him grow up and been there for all of his violence and passion and angst, and you know him, too. but inexplicably, he’s an adult now. and inexplicably, you find a comfort in him, and that comfort is new. and maybe for the first time in a long time you are finding a new side of a stone you’ve previously memorized every groove of. and maybe it’s just the novelty, but the comfort brings an intimacy that is just him and you. and for once, it doesn’t grate. it leaves you open. it leaves you wanting. and in this bubble you both have created, there is a new sun.
