The voice on the other end was rough and weary and punctuated with a grating cough at the end, but she would recognise that voice anywhere.
“Mike?” she asked worriedly, already pulling herself out of bed.
“Yeah,” he sighed. “I’m sorry for calling but…” he paused. “I didn’t have anyone else.”

Summary
Peter was a star student, with a genuine joy for learning. Tony liked him because not only was he extremely intelligent, he was also humble. Peter was sweet, and thoughtful, and overall just so much better than all of the other kids in his class. He quickly became Tony’s favourite.
That was why it felt like such a punch to the gut when something horrible happened.
Or: Tony is Peter's teacher and the two grow a close bond, and the man's always left heartbroken as he watches Parker Luck slowly ruin his young student's life throughout high school
