One of the major failings of the recently ended Supergirl is the lack of an epic romance. Not just a viable romantic interest, which there absolutely was a pretty clear one, but the follow through to devote at least part of the story to why Superman has endured, his romance with Lois.
So who is the intended romance for Supergirl? Jimmy, Winn, Mon-El, Benjamin? Nope!
The relationship that was very well defined and framed as the most important in the series for Kara (save for Alex) is with Lena Luthor. Their break up in season five was an entire season long arc that affected both characters in major ways, their season six encounters were just barely removed from romantic, with tears and hugs and everything but kisses and emotional resolution. The finale left us shippers with nothing except a vague hope that maybe off screen it happened after the credits rolled.
Screw that.
I want an epic romance for Kara, and I can't really picture it with anyone but Lena. So this project is a ground up story. I'm going back to the beginning, and I don't mean Episode one of the series. I mean all the way back to Krypton, this is a full origin story, and yes it is also a romance.
