Summary
It started as something to worry about in the back of Nanami’s mind but blossomed into the hideous creature that Nanami's insecurities and fear made real. She had flown too close to the sun, Nanami had let people get too close to her even though Nanami swore that it would never happen again. Not after her parents and her family died in front of her, not after Haurchefant died in her arms protecting her.
And yet it happened. Some foolish hope of hers urged her to bring the Scions close. That ever growing want and need to have the security of family again. It clouded her judgement and now she was paying the price for it.

Nanami was one of the more skilled apprentices, able to beckon an elemental to her side or cast a very rudimentary Cure I. A Cure I that improved almost overnight in the eyes of everyone around Nanami.
Little did they know that Nanami would use herself to practice on in the later hours of the night, having been woken up by a nightmare. It started as an impulse, something to make herself feel something other than the stress and anxiety or the apathy that filled her bones and her soul.
The night it first happened was an accident after a horrific nightmare where she was being held down by a Sahagin or one of their thralls in a pool of water, hoping that she would drown and give her aether up to Leviathan. Nanami woke up with a start and in her delirium, cut her arm open on the dagger she kept near her bed. That sent her back tumbling to reality and almost soothed her in a way, but after hurriedly cleaning up the blood, Nanami weaved a Cure I into her skin and watched as the spell erased her mistake.
