Summary
It's Summer break from uni, and Jon has just taken up a job offer to renovate the old, abandoned Valyrian manor that nobody has been successful in completing over the last 10 or so years. His best friends think he must have lost his mind to have proactively offered his services, insisting that the reasons for the manor's unusual reputation had a purpose, but Jon isn't so easily fleeceable.

“You’ve missed arguing with me, you mean.”
“So?” she asks, chocolate on her tongue instead of whiskey: the sweet lure rather than the amber burn. She reaches forward to sketch circles along his wrist, tracing a vein, skimming the heartbeat, beat, beat. She laughs when he gives her an exasperated look. “Unlike some people, I am willing to negotiate.”
