Update: Many years later Lexa comes back into the picture, it's not an easy road, especially since there has been a harboured secret that could either destroy them completely or choose to repair them with a turbulent road ahead. Can they eventually be what they need for each other?

Summary
The story starts in 1946, when Waverly is 6 and Wynonna is 12. Wynonna and her best friend, Nicole, are babysitting Waverly. Wynonna has been granted permission from a drunk and neglectful Ward to clear out the back room in the big red barn and turn it into a clubhouse for her and Nicole. Waverly gets to tag along on the adventure.
Years later in 1958, Waverly is 18 and a senior in high school. She feels all the societal pressures to start dating, and even has a good prospect, but doesn't feel any of the excitement. When Wynonna and Nicole invite her to start hanging out with them in the back room as a contemporary, Waverly is stunned to realize that she does feel excitement- for Nicole.
What could possibly happen if Waverly chooses to spend some quality time with Wynonna and Nicole in the big red barn.

Summary
Nicole Haught is one of Purgatory's finest Deputies. Waverly Earp is fresh out of the police academy and about to join the Purgatory squad against her sister's advice.
Wynonna Earp is the Purgatory Sheriff and both Nicole and Waverly's boss. She asks Nicole for a tiny favor: Get Waverly to quit the force before she gets hurt.
Read as: A complicated love story with certainly no room for unwanted feelings, betrayal, or any sort of enemies-to-friends-to-lovers trope.

Summary
It had only been just over a month since she had moved from Purgatory into the city to take up a teaching position at the university while she worked on her PhD, but she already felt far removed from her old life. It had been something of a whirlwind so far, her weekdays spent trying to find her feet in a new job and juggling her workload with her studies. Her weekends, however, had followed a similar pattern to the one she was currently in the midst of: holed up alone in her apartment, eating in front of the TV.
Keen to branch out and make new friends in an unfamiliar place, Waverly decides to join a walking group. A group which just so happens to be led by one Nicole Haught...
