But to date him, she has to get through his 5 evil exes and to deal with her previously mentioned highschool boyfriend!

Almost every Scott Pilgrim character is used and have their roles swapped! Mostly they'll stick to their canon personalities and attributes but to make it fit into the story, they'll have to be changed slightly and/or replaced entirely with OCs. (This applies to a few characters only, ex. Tamara.)
