Summary
The way things work once you present is quite simple, at least in the Undercity.
Alphas get challenges and fight. Eventually, an alpha loses enough, they get cast out, don’t get seen again. Feral packless alphas only caused trouble for everyone.
Omegas get claimed - there weren’t enough of them around for there to be such a thing as an undesirable omega. They said heat-fever took the really defective ones at presentation.
Betas got mostly left alone, unless there was an alpha dejected or desperate enough to bother. Most people didn’t look twice at them.
It was very unfortunate for Viktor, then, that he hadn’t truly been born a beta. -
