Summary
The following story is based on the world created by Suzanne Collins in the Hunger Games trilogy (The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay). Locales, traditions, the Games are all based on what we know from her books. Haymitch Abernathy, Maysilee Donner, her twin, and her friend (Madge Undersee’s mother and Katniss Everdeen’s mother, respectively), and Ceaser Flickerman are based on those same characters created by Suzanne Collins. All other characters are my own and any resemblance to any person or character is unintentional.
The specifics of Haymitch’s experience in the arena are taken from the account of the second Quarter Quell given in Catching Fire, Chapter Fourteen. Haymitch’s quote regarding the Tributes being 100% as dumb and all quotes from the arena are taken from the same account.
All other scenarios and quotes by Haymitch are from my own imagination.
Haymitch tells Katniss in Mockingjay that, within two weeks of coming home, “my mother, my brother, and my girl were gone”.
This is that girl’s story.
