It’s not like she has to go into detail about what she saw. She could just mention it in passing, after a status report, a simple: ‘Oh, by the way, you know that holonovel everyone’s playing? There’s a version of it in which we’re romantically involved.’ And that would be it.

Summary
Jim gets invited to these Starfleet-sanctioned parties every year, and he’s usually content to ignore them in favor of dedicating himself to the five-year mission. But Jim’s excuses have dried up—the mission ends in just a few weeks, and it seems Starfleet really wants him to go. The only problem is that he isn’t too thrilled to run into any past lovers and friends as he begrudgingly prepares for the admiralty. He needs someone to beat away irritating questions about his impending promotion, as well as the handful of flings that he’d rather leave in his rear-view. Jim just isn’t expecting Spock to volunteer.
