Summary
(It all starts with Peter Pettigrew dying twice.
First, Peter kills Wormtail (discreetly), and then Sirius kills him (less discreetly).
Losing a friend is never easy, even amidst the ravages of war, but losing the last of your childhood alongside him is far worse.)
War is a complicated, messy thing. The Marauders have their fucked up shit to deal with, but they also have each other, and that counts for a lot.

In my head it has to be Lily lol. Just because both James and Sirius love her too much to try initiating something she might not be comfortable with. I also just think that Sirius and James’ relationship is so complicated that they need that “outsider” to try to help them weave through complicated emotions, and someone to give them the approval. But, obviously just my opinion lol. There is an unfinished fic from a couple years ago that was ultimately supposed to end up an OT4 with Remus, that kind of solidified the Jilypad dynamic for me. It also has one of the best characterisations of Sirius I’ve seen in a fanfic.

3y agoVery good take. I like more nuanced portrayals of Lily canon does her a disservice by never really getting a chance to grapple with her as a living breathing human rather then a martyr. I read a fic a while back that had a similar take to Lily. With Lily recognising that after Sirius she was the most black and white in her thinking in the group. The few things we have about her in canon strongly suggest this and it is the most interesting take on her in my opinion.
